New Info Hub Website Shares Family Fun Options
Those looking for information on family-friendly events and youth recreation opportunities are encouraged to check out the new Plymouth Area Info Hub website.
The website, located at www.plymouthinfohub.com, strives to be the go-to source for information about Plymouth-area recreation and entertainment. “The goal is that people will say ‘Did you check the Info Hub?’,” said Kathryn Murray, director of Community Education & Recreation.
The initiative is the result of collaboration that came about after a recreation consultant hired by the City of Plymouth found that there is a plethora of activities in the area but no centralized way to get information about them. Meanwhile, the Plymouth School District recognized that some sort of “information hub” would assist with its strategic plan goals of encouraging extracurricular participation and facilitating community engagement.
Various community partners came together to explore ways to share information, and determined that a shared website was the best place to begin. Founding partners were Plymouth School District, Community Education & Recreation, City of Plymouth, Plymouth Public Library, Plymouth Arts Center, Generations, Family Resource Center, and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce.
The Plymouth Area Info Hub site currently consists of five pages:
·Home page: Six upcoming family-friendly opportunities in the Plymouth area, updated several times a week.
·Child Rec: Information on fun places to play as well as youth developmental leagues and interscholastic sports.
·Adult Rec: Information on fitness centers, recreation opportunities, and winter sports.
·Partners: Contact info for Info Hub community partners.
·Calendar: A Google calendar populated with family-friendly events by the various partners.
The site is expected to evolve and expand based on the needs of the partners and the community. “Its success depends upon feedback and thoughts from others in our community,” Mrs. Murray said. “We’re starting modestly and will build on it.”
New partners will be added in the coming months; those interested can contact Community Ed & Rec at 892-5068 or commedrec@plymouth.k12.wi.us.
