Plymouth Utilities 69 kV Line Removal Project
On February 21, 2020 at 10:00 am a bid opening was held at Plymouth Utilities for the 69-kV transmission line removal project. Three bids were received with the low bid by Michels in the amount of $156,855.25. The project was subsequently awarded by the Common Council at the Tuesday February 25, 2020 regularly scheduled meeting.
The project is the result of the 2019 substation no. 2 upgrade and the new transmission line tap that feeds the upgraded substation. The removal of the 69-kV line and the steel structure is tentatively scheduled for spring 2020. The retirement of the 69-kV line was part of the utilities long-term plan to upgrade substation no. 2 which was identified as a priority project in the 2016 Electrical Distribution System study.
