Application for Open Burning Permit -Residential

For campfires and backyard fire pits, this application must be submitted annually along with the $5 fee.  Payments may be made online HERE or mailed to PO Box 107 Smith St. Plymouth, WI  53073.  Payments may also be made in person and applications filled out at the City Clerk's Office, 128 Smith St., Plymouth.  Plymouth Municipal Code 5-2-9.

Conditions:

  1. On the day of the scheduled burn, the Fire Chief or Assistant Fire Chief must be contacted for verbal consent as to weather conditions. Camp fires in pre-approved locations shall be excepted. If conditions are unfavorable the permit may verbally be revoked or amended as the date of burn.
  2. No fire may be left unattended. Applicant is responsible for all damages which may result.
  3. A water source or fire extinguisher must be readily available at the burn site.
  4. Compliance with Plymouth Municipal Code §5-2-9. Burning or refuse or garbage is prohibited.
  5. Camp fires must be in a ring in the ground or other approved container at least ten  (10) feet away from all combustibles, buildings, decks, and lot lines. A drawing of the fire location upon the premises must be attached hereto. No fires shall be permitted other than at the designated location.
  6. Permanent fire pits shall be no larger than forty (40) inches in diameter.
  7. All fires must be immediately extinguished upon order of the Plymouth Police Department or Plymouth Fire Department.
